Yesterday I fell ... I don't remember falling - just finding myself sprawled out on the pavement. At first I thought I was being mugged but I was quite alone, as I lay there I ran my tongue over my teeth, they were all there, phew! I touched my nose tentatively, it hurt but I knew it wasn't broken. I slowly pushed myself back up onto my knees and then stood up and wobbled home.
When I woke up this morning this is what I looked like. During the course of the day the bruising has spread so that by tomorrow I will look like a panda.
"Ouch - you look terrible." my friend said when I sent him the photo "Does it hurt much?"
"Only when I smile ..."
Serves me right for being so smug about smiling the other day.

So Sorry that you should fall. And what a fall. Take care now, slow down a bit maybe, for a bit maybe. All this marathoning, it might sometimes trip you up. Get well soon.
Yeeouch. I hate when the pavement jumps up and smacks you in the face.
Take care.
OUCH! Sorry to hear about your fall.
I tripped over one of our dogs a couple weeks ago. Luckily, just a slight wrist sprain. I was embarrassed though as about 3 people saw it happen.
Feel better very soon!
OUCH!. You really took a tumble and your injuries look really nasty. Looks like you tripped over on a bit uneven path which i come across while out walking as well as yet i haven't taken a tumble touch wood :-).
Ooh, Jane, that looks so painful. It's amazing how calmly one can reflect on these things while lying face down on the pavement. I hope you're not going to work today.
Eek! That must have been one mean minded pavement that hit you! Hope the pain goes soon. :)
Hope you're feeling better soon, take care of yourself, sometimes you have an injury that you don't realise. I so sympathise, I fell off my bike a couple of weeks before Christmas and thought initially that I was fine but had a bruised shoulder that took weeks to heal up properly.
much love

OMG Jane.Ouch! But you're so clever. Now you are scarily close to resembling your byline.
Oh dear Jane, I hadn't realised! You look a bit the way I feel, like I've been in the ring with Tyson or one of his mates. Ice is the best medicine for bruises and hurt-yourselfs. I hope you recover quickly, but yes, take several deep breaths, over the space of a good few days ...
Thanks for your comment on the cats. If you have time and/or inclination, I would appreciate you looking to see what has since happened - I am considering deleteing all the Anon comments, but don't want to be cowardly - any advice?
Best wishes, heal quickly
Isabel
Thanks for your advice Jane, I have 'removed the content' of the nasty comments. PLEASE do not feel in anyway responsible for that idiot - I think it had nothing to do with your response, and all to do with a very small mind indeed.
As for the bruising, can DR Isabel recommend arnica creme? I am one who bruises spectacularly and have found it helps the bruises retreat - and seems to ease the discomfort.
Isabel x
How perfectly awful! I mean, it's hard to reach the fine status of "perfectly awful", but you have achieved it my friend.
You need to get checked out and make sure there's no underlying reason for your falling - especially since you can't remember falling.
I hate to tell you but it will look worse before it looks better. Here's where my empathy and "I feel your pain" steps in. Aack! I don't want to feel it but I do.
As we Southerners are fond of saying, Bless your heart!
Jane, that is what you get for humping all those yards!
Like your little tiny garden. (said from POV of ex farmer) That is the one thing I miss living on a boat. The humps. Hahahahah. Gotcha!
